REMODELING

BEFORE YOU START:

Owners wishing to do any remodeling work in their unit must check with the Association before starting work. Summit County does not allow owners in multifamily buildings to do their own remodeling work with very few exceptions. The Association has additional requirements as explained in the Rules and Regulations that are designed to protect the owners interests as well as the common areas. Please review the Rules and Regulations first. Some standard plans are pre-approved as explained below.

CONTRACTORS:

As explained in the Rules and Regulations and the Contractor Guidelines, contractors must register with the Property Management upon entry and exit, make a damage deposit, and show a valid permit where necessary. Failure to follow the Rules may result in fines and other penalties to the owner involved.

Kitchens

The recommended kitchen remodel is an expanded kitchen with the owner closet moved to a bedroom. A pre-approved plan exists. Click here for pictures and more information.

Owner Closet

Owner Closets can be added to either bedroom using excess space in the existing closet. A pre-approved plan exists that includes addition of a fire sprinkler.

Living Room Porch Expansion

The existing porch is a limited common element that can be converted to part of the adjoining condominium by replacing the existing porch windows, rerouting heating and electrical elements and paying additional condominium dues and legal costs. The work must be scheduled in Spring or Fall by the Association using the Association's specifications and contractor for the porch window replacement.. Click here for further information.
